Gordon has been interested in sustainable urban environments ever since he studied architecture in the 1970s. He worked in environmental policy and program management for 26 years at both Commonwealth and ACT government level and as a political adviser in the ACT Legislative Assembly. Much of this time was spent working on climate change strategies, energy efficiency, and promotion of environmentally sustainable buildings and urban planning.
He left the public service 2 years ago to do something more practical than writing policy statements and has been assisting a number of community groups since this time, particularly Cohousing Canberra, SEE-Change and Friends of Black Mountain. When he wants time off, he likes bushwalking, pulling up weeds and spotting birds.
