Loving your cats and wildlife too – cat containment for Canberra?

Cats are amazing creatures both as companion animals and as effective hunters. Felis catus was introduced to Australia and is on every continent except Antarctica. What has been the impact of cats on Australian fauna? Is this important or is it ‘law of the jungle’? Is it useful to consider cats as different sub-groups e.g. feral, domestic and unowned? Are there different impacts from these sub-groups? What are management options? Does cat containment reduce the impact of cats on fauna? Does cat containment assist the life of domestic cats? Can we manage feral cats effectively without domestic cats being caught up in the options?

This Environment Exchange asks the hard questions about cat containment in Canberra. Join us to hear from guest speakers about their views and engage in this topical environmental issue.
