Join us as we showcase the natural and cultural history of Red Hill.

The Conservation Council ACT Region is once again showcasing the natural treasures of the ACT Region at the 2019 Canberra Heritage Festival. This year’s theme is “Space” and our events explore some of the lesser known reserves in the ACT as well as new aspects of some old favourites. Be one of the few lucky Canberrans to have truly explored Kama and Kinlyside or rekindle your passion for Mulligan’s Flat and Red Hill.

Join us as we showcase the natural and cultural history of Red Hill.

Explore a fascinating mix of heritage; from an ancient geological site, to one of Canberra’s first water resevoirs, to a modern day street art Tardis.

Red Hill Nature Reserve protects endangered Box-Gum Grassy Woodland, of which there is less than 1% remaining in Australia. The Red Hill Regenerators have been working hard for decades to restore the hill to its current beautiful state. Learn about the birds and plants of this ecosystem, and what it takes to care for them in a thriving city.

Red Hill is a much-loved Canberra park, so don't miss out on this special event. Hear from local experts and residents as we brush up on the reserve's past while its future is being decided.

Can't come or want to find out more about the ecology of Red Hill Nature Reserve? Visit Canberra Nature Park and see a species list and the most recent sitings!

PLEASE NOTE: We will be exploring off track, up small hills and across uneven ground. Walkers should wear long pants, sturdy covered shoes and appropriate weather protection. Please note that the walk will depart promptly at 10am.
