Gordon has a keen interest in sustainable urban environments that emerged after studying architecture in the 1970s. He has worked in environmental policy and program management for 26 years at both Commonwealth and ACT government level focussing on climate change strategies, energy efficiency, promotion of environmentally sustainable buildings and urban planning. He has also worked as a political adviser in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
After leaving the public service a few years ago, Gordon has been keen to do more practical work in his local environment, and is on the committees of a number of community groups such as Cohousing Canberra, SEE-Change,Friends of Black Mountain and the Lyneham Community Association. In his time off, he likes bushwalking, pulling up weeds and spotting birds.
