SUMMARY:Branching Out: Canberra Nature Walks - Mulligans Flat Wetlands Walk
DESCRIPTION:A free\, easy\, supported evening walk for all ages around the wetland at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary. \nFrom the Wildbark carpark we’ll walk up the boardwalk and around the wetland / big dam. Lots of birdlife\, kangaroos and wallabies to see while admiring the sunset on a beautiful summers evening as we walk back down the boardwalk to our cars. \nRegister for this walk here: https://events.humanitix.com/branching-out-mulligans-flat-wetlands-walk  \nDistance and Duration\nThe walk is 3.5kms return. We’ll allow 1.5 to 2 hours because we will be stopping to watch the birds and wallabies\, look at flowers and insects\, and admire the sunset. \nAccessibility\nThe track around the wetlands is not suitable for a pram or wheelchair. It can be muddy in places if it has rained. Toddlers may need to be carried in parts but children 5 and over should be suitable.\nPlease contact us if you have questions regarding the track\, distance\, time so we can assist you to decide if this walk suits you. If it doesn’t – we’ll find one that does and run that! \nPlease bring/wear: \n\nyour mobile phone and earphones to use the QR codes on interpretation boards for information about the wetland\na camera and binoculars if you have them\nwater and snacks\nenclosed shoes with grip that you don’t mind getting muddy\nto protect against mosquito bites it’s important to: (reference: https://www.act.gov.au/environment/animals-and-plants/mosquitos)\n\nwear loose\, long-sleeved\, light-coloured clothing\ncovered footwear and socks\napply mosquito repellent evenly to all areas of exposed skin.\n\nthe most effective repellents contain picaridin\, DEET or oil of lemon eucalyptus. We monitor weather\, location and track condition to assess risk and ensure safety. If the weather\, or tracks/river condition are considered to pose safety risks to attendees the walk will be rescheduled. Registered people will be notified as soon as possible prior to the walk date/time and given first opportunity to re-register for the new date. \n__ \nBranching Out: Canberra Nature Walks is an initiative aiming to engage the Canberra community\, especially people with no\, or very little\, experience with our nature\, and support them to enjoy all the beautiful nature spaces the ACT has on offer. \nWe know that unfamiliar things can feel intimidating — especially when it comes to woodlands\, wildlife\, and insects — so we would like to support as many people as possible with making that first step. \nWe hope to ignite a love of Canberra’s nature throughout the community and raise awareness of the importance of healthy ecosystems and the rich biodiversity across the ACT.
