SUMMARY:Protect Bluetts Block - Threatened Species Day Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Canberra is home to incredible places and wildlife found nowhere else on Earth.\nBut nature in Canberra and Australia is in trouble. The wildlife and the places we love are under threat from a warming climate\, deforestation\, over development\, and roads and infrastructure fragmenting habitats. \nThis Threatened Species Day let’s stand up for nature by having our voices heard! \nJoin us for a write-in outside the Legislative Assembly to call on our decision makers to protect Ngununggula/Bluetts Block as a nature reserve. Bluetts Block is home to local threatened species including the Gang-gang cockatoo\, Superb Parrot\, Pink Tailed Worm Lizard and rare marsupials the Dunnart and Antechinus.  \nWhen and Where: 12 noon\, Thursday 7th September\, Outside the Legislative Assembly  \nWe are in the midst of a biodiversity crisis\, our local threatened species need their woodland home protected.  \n			\n				Find out more about Bluetts Block\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				What: a peaceful vigil and write-in outside the Legislative Assembly (the ACT parliament). We’ll gather in the courtyard with banners to demonstrate to decision makers the community demands action to protect wildlife. Our specific ask is for the Government to protect Bluetts Block\, home to threatened species\, as a Nature reserve. Together we’ll all write letters to the Planning Minister. A sample letter\, paper and a limited number of pens and envelopes will be provided.  \n			\n				Sample letter: protect bluetts block as a nature reserve\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				 Please turn up any time throughout the hour. Everyone is welcome and everyone is needed.  \nThis threatened species day let’s join together to protect Bluetts Block as a nature reserve.  \nPlease do not attend if you are feeling unwell or have been a recent close contact of someone with COVID-19. Wearing a face mask is welcomed.  \n			\n				Stay updated\n			\n				Donations to support our work are welcomed.
