SUMMARY:Western Edge Guided Walk: Gula (koala) habitat
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a guided walk outdoors with views to the Western Edge and connecting with the area’s biodiversity and natural resources. \nExplore Kama Nature Reserve with a special focus on Gula (koala) habitat\, guided by Keith Joliffe. \nMeeting place and further details will be communicated to booked participants prior to the event date. \nThis event is free but registration is essential. REGISTER HERE \nAbout the campaign  \nThis walk is part of the Save Our Western Edge Campaign. \nCanberra’s Western Edge\, a beautiful patch of critically endangered ecosystems to Canberra’s west\, is up for unsustainable\, unaffordable and dangerous development by the ACT Government. With Canberra’s urban boundary being set by the ACT Government over the next two years\, we have to tell our government now\, before decisions are made\, that we want our Western Edge protected — not developed — so it can continue to provide vital services to our community. \nRead more about the campaign here

SUMMARY:The Next Climate Strategy for the ACT
DESCRIPTION:The ACT Government’s climate strategy is set to end in 2025. The development of a new strategy has been significantly delayed. Meanwhile\, the Climate Risk Assessment Report released by the Australian Climate Service was released in September. It paints a sobering picture of life in Australia under a hotter climate\, including increased risks from severe and frequent extreme weather events\, heat waves and sea level rise. Communities\, ecosystems and the places we love\, across Australia\, including here in the ACT\, will be affected by these climate impacts. \nBut there is still time to act. With committed government action\, backed by ambitious national and local targets\, we can still reduce these risks and protect our future. Now is not the time for complacency. In the past\, the ACT has been rightfully recognised as a world leader in climate ambition. The ACT government has the opportunity once again to lead with an ambitious\, forward-looking strategy that serves all Canberrans\, and serves as an example for the rest of the nation. \nThe ACT Conservation Council invites you to join us and other members of the Canberra community for a webinar on 11 November 2025. Together\, we’ll explore potential priorities for the ACT’s next climate strategy and discuss what matters most for our region’s future. By coming together\, we can help shape an ambitious strategy that reflects the values of our community. \nRegister for free to join this webinar: https://events.humanitix.com/the-next-climate-strategy-for-the-act
