SUMMARY:Branching Out: Canberra Nature Walks - Mulligans Flat Wetlands Walk
DESCRIPTION:A free\, easy\, supported evening walk for all ages around the wetland at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary. \nFrom the Wildbark carpark we’ll walk up the boardwalk and around the wetland / big dam. Lots of birdlife\, kangaroos and wallabies to see while admiring the sunset on a beautiful summers evening as we walk back down the boardwalk to our cars. \nRegister for this walk here: https://events.humanitix.com/branching-out-mulligans-flat-wetlands-walk  \nDistance and Duration\nThe walk is 3.5kms return. We’ll allow 1.5 to 2 hours because we will be stopping to watch the birds and wallabies\, look at flowers and insects\, and admire the sunset. \nAccessibility\nThe track around the wetlands is not suitable for a pram or wheelchair. It can be muddy in places if it has rained. Toddlers may need to be carried in parts but children 5 and over should be suitable.\nPlease contact us if you have questions regarding the track\, distance\, time so we can assist you to decide if this walk suits you. If it doesn’t – we’ll find one that does and run that! \nPlease bring/wear: \n\nyour mobile phone and earphones to use the QR codes on interpretation boards for information about the wetland\na camera and binoculars if you have them\nwater and snacks\nenclosed shoes with grip that you don’t mind getting muddy\nto protect against mosquito bites it’s important to: (reference: https://www.act.gov.au/environment/animals-and-plants/mosquitos)\n\nwear loose\, long-sleeved\, light-coloured clothing\ncovered footwear and socks\napply mosquito repellent evenly to all areas of exposed skin.\n\nthe most effective repellents contain picaridin\, DEET or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Read the instructions to find out how often you should reapply repellent.\n\n\n\n\n\n__ \nYour safety and rescheduling \nYour safety is our first priority. We monitor weather\, location and track condition to assess risk and ensure safety. If the weather\, or tracks/river condition are considered to pose safety risks to attendees the walk will be rescheduled. Before entering the Assembly in 2016\, Ms. Orr worked as an urban planner in the public service and has a background in the hospitality and tourism industries. \nDr ​Simon Copland\, Executive Director\, Conservation Council ACT Region\n​Simon Copland is the Executive Director of the Conservation Council ACT Region\, Canberra’s peak body for the environment. He has a long history in the Australian climate movement\, previously working for 350.org Australia. He was also the Executive Director at Pedal Power ACT\, leading campaigns to boost active travel here in the ACT.

SUMMARY:Branching Out: Canberra Nature Walks - Cotter Dam Discovery Trail & Explorer Track
DESCRIPTION:Combining two easy\, pram and wheelchair accessible\, walks to explore our beautiful Cotter Avenue nature space. All welcome!\nWe’ll meet at the covered gazebo in the grassy area opposite the Cotter playground. We’ll have a break for morning tea – we recommend staying on and enjoying a picnic lunch and a splash in the river.
