SUMMARY:Webinar: Nature Conservation in the ACT
DESCRIPTION:In early February the ACT Government released its new Nature Conservation Strategy for consultation. \nWhile this might sound dull\, the document outlines a bold and exciting vision for nature conservation in the Territory over the next ten years. This includes the creation of a new nature conservation network\, developing stewardship programs\, and creating new ways to fund nature restoration. \nIn this webinar we’ll give you a briefing on the strategy\, explain how the Conservation Council is responding to it\, and provide tips for you if you’re intending to write a submission. \nRegister now to gain access to this webinar: https://events.humanitix.com/nature-conservation-in-the-act

SUMMARY:Save our Western Edge Rally + Visit to Question Time
DESCRIPTION:It’s been one year since the ACT Government promised to set a hard urban boundary for the ACT\, yet Canberrans and our animal friends are still in the dark as to where this line will be drawn. We cannot sprawl forever\, it’s bad for people and the planet\, we must draw the line now.  \nJoin us for a rally outside the Legislative Assembly followed by entry to Question Time to directly ask the Planning Minister: will you keep Canberra’s Western Edge outside the urban boundary to save it from unsustainable\, unaffordable and dangerous urban sprawl?  \nClick going/interested and hit share on Facebook to build the buzz!

SUMMARY:Webinar: 1% for Nature - National Campaign Launch
DESCRIPTION:Join the national webinar to launch 1% for Nature.\n\nWe’re calling for a fair go for nature: at least 1% of the federal budget invested in protecting the landscapes and wildlife that make this country what it is. \nBy joining the webinar\, you’ll learn what the 1% for Nature campaign is calling for\, what’s happening nationally\, and how people across the country are working in their local communities to meet with their federal MPs and push for a fair go for nature. \nRight now\, nature gets just 0.1% of the federal budget. \nThat’s less than 0.1% of your tax dollars going towards protecting nature in Australia. It’s not nearly enough\, and it’s showing: we lead the world in mammal extinctions and 17 of our ecosystems are on the brink of collapse! \nAustralia has the people\, the skills and the science to solve the environmental problems we face – they just need adequate funding. \nBut unless our elected representatives hear loud and clear from us\, it won’t happen. \n1% for Nature is part of the broader 30 by 30 Australia campaign — a national alliance of environment organisations working to ensure Australia protects at least 30% of land and sea by 2030. \nRegister for the webinar to find out more: https://events.humanitix.com/webinar-1-for-nature-national-campaign-launch
