Friday 5th March 2021 , Welcome to our monthly Yellow Box newsletter! February was a month full of new beginnings: we started the month with a new look, made connections with new ANU students, welcomed new volunteers, an intern and a staff member, and we launched an exciting new sustainable transport project. Member group representatives and the board came together to discuss campaign priorities for 2021, revealing the many ways in which our organisation can make a difference this year. Some of our work from the last 12 months has come to fruition, with EvoEnergy reassessing its plans for the gas network in Canberra. Their change of tune brings them closer to acknowledging that fossil fuels in the home are a thing of the past. Read on for more information. Whilst this was a win for climate action locally, the Federal Government is continuing to fight against the facts of climate change and promoting a “gas-fired recovery” from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their National Gas Infrastructure Plan is open for comment, and we need as many people as possible to tell the Federal Government that their nonsensical plan is not OK. Read on to find out how you can make your voice heard. Communicating your opposition to the gas-fired recovery is just one way that you can make a difference. Why not sign up for the Make the Move program, join the campaign to save Lawson north grasslands, or support us by volunteering or making a donation? Together we can make a difference!
