Forum: The business of reducing single-use plastics

WHERE: Highroad Cafe, 1 Woolley St, Dickson 2601

WHEN: 6:00PM – 8:00PM Thursday 5 September 2019

Join us to discuss how we can reduce single-use plastics in businesses in the ACT.

Tickets will be available on the door.

Single-use plastics cause environmental damage, especially when they end up in our waterways and oceans, where they can take hundreds or even thousands of years to break down.

Businesses around the ACT are developing ways to replace single-use plastics with more sustainable alternatives. Come hear about their work and what it could mean for the Canberra community and beyond. Highroad’s bar will be open for this event. It will be an exciting opportunity to connect with Canberra businesses and suppliers, and interested individuals.

We are pleased to welcome Chris Steel MLA, ACT Minister for Transport and City Services to talk about ACT Government initiatives. The Minister will be joined by:

  • Sasa Sestic, Managing Director of ONA coffee
  • Manuel Xyrakis, Manager of Ainslie IGA
  • A representative from ACT NoWaste

The discussion will be facilitated by our Executive Director Helen Oakey, with a short Q&A followed by questions from the floor, and a chance to buy drinks and connect with other attendees.

Tickets are only $15. Light refreshments will be provided and the Highroad bar will be open.

Tickets will be available at the door.

Proceeds will help the Conservation Council carry out its campaigns to protect our natural environment. You can read our submission on phasing out single use plastics in the ACT here.

Registration for this event has closed. Thank you to everyone who attended.
