Join us on June 5th for a gala dinner at the National Museum of Australia.
Support the Conservation Council’s work protecting the ACT’s environment.
World Environment Day is a powerful day for environmental action. Since 1974 it has been celebrated every year on 5th June, engaging governments, businesses, celebrities and citizens to focus their efforts on pressing environmental issues. Never before has our focus on the environment been more important.
A highlight of Canberra’s envrionment calendar, World Environment Day Dinner energises the local environment movement.
Reconnect with friends and fellow environmentalists, and forge meaningful connections with political, government and private sector representatives, celebrate successes, and be inspired by guest speakers.
This year, we are honoured to welcome author and social researcher Dr Rebecca Huntley as our guest speaker.
Dr Huntley has featured on a variety of radio and television programs, including ABC’s Q and A, and recently released a book “How to Talk About Climate Change in a Way That Makes a Difference” on the importance of engaging with those who aren’t hearing the call to action on climate change. She works closely with The Sunrise Project on the Climate Compass Project, as well as many other Australian climate and environment organisations. Dr Huntley brings a thought-provoking perspective on climate change – challenging us to not just ask “how do we cut emissions?”, but “how do we win the political and social battle to get the action that’s required?”.
This event is the Conservation Council’s largest fundraising event of the year and provides vital support to our work advocating to protect the environment and building a sustainable community.
Event details: Held at the National Museum of Australia, this event will feature a delicious three-course vegetarian meal, with wine, beer and soft drinks included. There will be time to talk with other guests, a live music performance, and an opportunity to bid on our live auction during the proceedings.
Join us at World Environment Day Dinner to reconnect with your community while raising important funds for the work of the Conservation Council ACT Region.
Together, we can create a sustainable future for the ACT and region.
