The Conservation Council ACT Region Inc Annual General Meeting will be held Thursday 26 November 2026 at 6.00pm at the Conservation Council Office and on Zoom.
Members who have voting rights should identify for which group they are the nominated representative for the purposes of voting at the meeting, as explained here.
Other associated documents will become available closer to the date.
Register before 2pm on Thursday 26 November to receive required voting information.
Nomination for Election to the Board
The election of the Conservation Council Board is conducted at the AGM.
The Board nomination form can be downloaded and completed.  Nominations must be received by the Secretary not less than seven (7) days before the day of the Annual General Meeting, that is, by COB Wednesday 19 November 2026.
The Council is committed to supporting diversity in Board membership, skills and experience. We encourage people from diverse cultures, backgrounds, abilities and identities to apply for positions on the Board.
Please note that nomination forms for Board positions can be signed and returned by mail or email, and that the Secretary will accept evidence of the nomination via a confirming email from the nominator / seconder for  those who are unable to obtain physical signatures.
Please demonstrate that you have received support via email PRIOR to forwarding your email through to the Secretary. It is suggested that you do this by:
- Completing the nomination form.
- Scanning your form and forwarding to your nominator / seconder.Â
- Forwarding the full email chain and/ or signed form to the Secretary and Director
- Email nominations to the Secretary at secretary@conservationcouncil.org.au and copy to the Executive Director at director@conservationcouncil.org.au
Seeking Particular Skills
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed people who are interested in advancing the goals of the CCACT as board members, noting that this is an unpaid, volunteer position.
Board members must be an individual member of one of CCACT’s current member groups. Board nominations must be supported by two individual members of different member organisations.
Candidates will ideally be able to:
- Demonstrate commitment to the environment and sustainability of the ACT Region
- Contribute to a CCACT working group, board subcommittee or by supporting the
organisation with your unique skills and experience - Intend to serve on the board for at least two years, and ideally up to five years
Board meetings are currently held monthly (approx 1.5 hours) in CCACT offices in Canberra, normally between 5.30-7pm during the week. Board members can attend in person or online. Alongside board meetings, board members are expected to spend a minimum of another four hours a month on CCACT related issues (including reviewing or developing
board papers and / or participating in working groups or subcommittee meetings).
In particular, we are seeking nominations from people with the following experience /background:
- Professional experience and / or education in law
- Professional experience and / or education in human resources
- Professional experience and / or a commitment to environmental justice
- Understanding and / or experience working and / or studying biodiversity and ecological processes, water, waste, circular economy, urban planning and / or transport.
We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander people and welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, ages and lived experience. If you’re interested but don’t have relevant experience, please reach out to discuss a mentorship opportunity.
Voting
Please note that only nominated representatives of Member Group organisations are eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting.
If any of your representatives are not able to attend the Annual General Meeting they are able to nominate a proxy. Proxy forms are attached to the Constitution or available here. Each nominated representative is entitled to appoint another representative as proxy by notice given to the Secretary no later than 48 hours before the time of the meeting for which the proxy is appointed. Proxies will be confirmed at the meeting. Please also read our Proxy Voting Explained document, which will help you understand Proxy Voting more easily.

Conservation Council Volunteer Awards 2026!
Volunteers are essential for the work of the Conservation Council.Â
From researching, policy and submission writing, over running stalls, walks and webinars, over doing hundreds of tasks to help keep our database and website organised and running smoothly, to archiving important historic records or creating beautiful banners and signs, and other designs to raise awareness we could not do what we do without our amazing volunteers! These volunteers donate their time, expertise and passion to protect our wonderful nature and advocate for our environment. They are crucial to everything our organisation does. They not only help but inspire others to take action, too.
To show our deep gratitude, we will again in 2026 celebrate our volunteers incredible contributions with two awards: the Volunteer of the Year Award and the Young Volunteer of the Year Award (volunteers 25 years of age and under). While we value all our volunteers, these awards are a small way for us to recognise the outstanding commitment and hard work of two volunteers and to highlight the profound impact they have on our shared goals.
Conservation Council staff will nominate volunteers for these awards and share their nominations with the board, for the board to then vote for the nominated candidates at this year’s AGM.
