Seminar on the Right to a Healthy Environment in the ACT

Environmental Defenders Office will be presenting a workshop series in Canberra this November hosted by the Conservation Council ACT (and with assistance from the ACT Government).
ACT’s new right to a healthy environment enshrined under the Human Rights Act 2004 (ACT) recognises that a clean, healthy and sustainable environment is necessary for the full enjoyment of a vast range of fundamental human rights, including the rights to life, health, food and water. This session will cover how the new right to a healthy environment operates, is recognised, how to use and enforce this new human right, and the ACT Human Rights Commissioner’s proposed review of the right under section 41 of the Human Rights Act.
When: Monday 3 November, 5-6pm
Where: Bar Lola at Verity Lane Market Precinct, Canberra
Featuring:
- Dr Penelope Mathew, President and Human Rights Commissioner, ACT Human Rights Commission
- Lawyers from Environmental Defenders Office.
